Alabama Hands & Voices Guide By Your Side

At Alabama Hands & Voices, we understand the power of parents sharing and connecting. The Alabama Hands & Voices Guide By Your Side program is dedicated to directly supporting families and their children who have been diagnosed with a hearing loss, by offering families the oppertunity to talk to or meet, face-to-face, with a trained Parent Guide.

Guide By Your Side Parent Guides are specially trained parents of children who are deaf or hard of hearing.  The training Parent Guides recieve provides a strong foundation in supporting families without bias towards communication modes or methods, as well as a functional understanding of formal systems and services available to families and their children. Parent Guides are able to bring their experiences, specialized knowledge and personal compassion to their roles while making the family's needs their primary focus. To summarize, Parent Guides have been where you currently are.

The Alabama Hands & Voices Guide By Your Side program is available to families of Alabama children who have a hearing loss. The service provided by Alabama Hands & Voices Guide By Your Side program is provided to families at no cost.

Our specially trained Parent Guides offer direct parent support and networking, unbiased information and resource sharing specific to hearing loss; including insights on having navigated the system from a parents perspective. They support families as they secure Early Intervention services and then transition to the school districts for services by combining a parent's insight with knowledge of systems. Our Parent Guides provide information about other parent support opprotunities, parent training and leadership opprotunities and upcoming family social events.
